Back to the Constitution

The United States of America is unique. We were isolated enough that the founding fathers could use their ability to reason in order to construct a blueprint for this nation…before it was born. The Constitution was created after they experienced the misgivings of tyranny, autocracy and dictatorships.
The founding fathers were not only enlightened trailblazers, but brilliantly pessimistic about human nature. They created a government of balanced powers with checks and balances in which our worst tendencies cancelled each other out somehow. They put down the blueprints for a government of the people, by the people and for the people.

In one way it is a contract to uphold individual rights and state rights. We are questioning if this contract has been broken.

-The Congress has handed much of its powers to the executive branch and is no longer beholden to its constituent voters.

-Money has flooded the campaigns to the point that the only people electable are in elite wealthy circles that super-PACs and billionaires are willing to fund.

-When Congress does create a bill it has to line up with contributors opinions and the powers that control those funds.

-Gerrymandering is snowballing - making our votes obsolete and disillusioning the public to where we consider voting as pointless.

-The Judicial branch has become stacked for conservatives as well as beholden to money and influence. Many recent decisions make us question if it is still interested in upholding our constitutional rights. It can no longer be said that the Supreme Court is unbiased and not politicised. People have lost faith in it and are unclear where the rule of law now stands with no explanations for their decisions.

-The Executive Branch issues ‘executive privilege’ orders daily - creating laws and cutting funding that was once a power vested only in Congress. The current administration pushes the boundaries of the Constitution weekly to where the freedom of speech and the freedom of the press are capitulating to executive extortion.

-We believe that the powers vested by Congress needs to be returned and re-enforced.

-We believe that the powers vested in the Executive branch must be curtailed and executive orders should have requirements of signatures by a Judicial authority and the Senate leader. Executive orders should not be looked at as law but a temporary injunction for the Congress to formalize in a specific timeframe.

-Finally, we believe that all members of each branch should abide by the same laws as required of us as a nation of citizens.
